Dimension analysis
Break traffic down by seven channel types: search, social, AI, direct, referral, email and ads.
Overview#
The Dimension analysis page (/dashboard/mkit/dimensions) groups visits into seven channel types, using GA4 date × sessionSource × sessionDefaultChannelGroup with the sessions metric.

Classification rules#
classifyChannel() uses the GA4 sessionDefaultChannelGroup first, then falls back to the AI allowlist and regex:

Note: AI classification takes precedence over the GA4 channel group: even if GA4 labels a source as Referral, it lands in AI when it hits the AI allowlist or regex.
Three detail-page entries#
- Search detail /dimensions-search: engine distribution, country × engine, keyword intent, SERP CTR and movers.
- Social detail /dimensions-social: platform distribution, quality comparison, viral events.
- AI detail /ai-traffic: AI sources, quality comparison, Bing Copilot.
Plan gating#
The general 7-dimension page has no backend plan gating; but the Search, Social and AI detail pages are gated — locked on Free and available on Pro/Business, with different windows and item caps.
Note: The general page shows an mk.pro badge but has no locked branch — the endpoints that are actually gated are the three detail pages.
