Dimension analysis · Search

Engine distribution, country × engine, keyword intent, SERP CTR and movers, plus optional Bing enhancement.

Overview#

The Search dimension page (/dashboard/mkit/dimensions/search) aggregates sessions, engine distribution, keywords and SERP performance for search sources.

Data comes from GA4 (sessionSource classified into engines by host) and GSC (query, average position), with Bing as an optional enhancement.

Engine allowlist#

Engines are classified by a host allowlist; search sources that do not match fall into Others:

Enginehost keyword
Googlegoogle
Bingbing
Yahooyahoo
DuckDuckGoduckduckgo
Yandexyandex
Navernaver
Baidubaidu
OthersEvery other search source

Google subtypes are inferred from the referrer host prefix as Image / News / Video / Shopping / Organic.

Country × engine and intent#

The country × engine cross table shows session distribution per engine by country and is unlocked on Business.

Keyword intent uses four regex classes — transactional / navigational / commercial / informational — and anything unclassified is recorded as not_set.

SERP CTR and movers#

SERP CTR comes from the GSC average position and clicks/impressions; movers compare the current window with the previous one.

  • Winners: new this period and performing well
  • Losers: rank/clicks declining
  • New: queries that appeared this period
  • Lost: queries that disappeared this period

Bing enhancement#

Connecting Bing Webmaster unlocks the Bing enhancement module, showing:

  • Keyword stats (GetKeywordStats)
  • Inbound links (GetInboundLinks)
Note: When Bing is not connected the bing field is null and the page shows Connect Bing.

Plans and definitions#

Plan gating (locked on Free, available on Pro/Business):

Note: Definition caveat: the multi-channel query is not filtered by medium=organic, so summary.organic_sessions is actually the sum of all sessionSource values classified by engine, with unmatched sources going to Others; keywords_total is the number of query rows returned by the current GSC call (up to the cap), not the total number of queries in GSC.
