Bing Webmaster Tools

Optional second-engine enhancement: Bing keywords, rank & traffic, crawl stats and inbound links.

What it is#

Bing Webmaster is an **optional enhancement layer** on top of the Google core sources: it adds a second search engine's data. Disconnecting Bing never affects GA4 / GSC data.

  • Keyword stats: query, clicks, impressions, average position
  • Page stats and rank & traffic (including Copilot impressions)
  • Crawl stats: crawled pages and errors
  • Inbound links aggregated by referring domain
Note: The Bing KeywordStats API has no period-over-period view, so the keyword report deliberately shows no "movers" — no fake up/down data.

Prerequisites#

  1. A Microsoft account (personal or work).
  2. The site added and verified in Bing Webmaster Tools (bing.com/webmasters).
  3. The deployment has Bing connection enabled (otherwise the connect button reports it is not configured).

How to connect#

  1. Console → Data sources → Connect for Bing Webmaster.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account and approve the (read-only) consent.
  3. If exactly one site matches your domain it binds automatically; otherwise pick it in Settings.
Tip: Bing and Google authorizations are independent: disconnecting Bing revokes only the Bing token and leaves every Google connection untouched.

Troubleshooting#

  • Authorization cancelled: nothing changed — just connect again.
  • "Not open on this deployment": the Microsoft app credentials are not configured; contact the admin.
  • Authorization or refresh failed: disconnect and reconnect; refresh failures are usually expired Microsoft sessions.
  • Google Search Console (/docs/gsc)
